Developer ID signed, Apple notarized and stapled. Unzip, move Feather.app into your user Applications folder, then open it. The runtime is included. This version stays in the menu bar and keeps itself updated through Fledge. Automatic maintenance has a separate switch under Details; it never enables support access.

One executable with an embedded runtime, local Allow/Pause/Status controls and an uninstaller. No ZIP extraction or Node installation. Rerunning Setup offers a local Repair/update for a verified existing installation; the previous installation and identity are retained. This internal alpha is not Authenticode-signed and has not yet passed native Windows installation/use testing.

This recovery candidate changes only the state-directory access rules, verifies them, and reports a specific permission stage and numeric system code when startup fails. Existing installations can choose Repair/update. Native Windows acceptance remains pending.

One local access switch

On runs authorized O+K requests. Ask requires a local approval for each exact request. Off rejects requests without prompting and stops tracked work. The Mac tray remembers your selection across ordinary restart; first installs and old session-only upgrades start Off. Connection status is separate from access permission.

Pause does not undo prior changes, disable independent software, or defeat an administrator who already controls the operating system. This alpha installs no privileged system service. Windows adds a current-user sign-in shortcut; access still starts OFF.

Optional setup diagnostics

Setup can report progress and fixed error codes before the receiver starts. You can uncheck reporting without affecting installation. Reports use a random attempt ID, build and stage; they do not include usernames, file contents, credentials or command output. Network metadata is visible to the hosting service. Remote diagnostic records expire after 14 days; local logs remain for troubleshooting.

If Setup fails, keep its support ID. No launch observed does not prove why a program did not run, and offline reports cannot arrive at the service.

Operator tools

The CLI and direct ChatGPT MCP connection can list hosts, submit operations, read results, revoke enrollment and inspect installer diagnostics. Both use the same canonical authorization. An authorized operator login is required; downloading the agent does not grant operator rights.

Platform status

Mac: native alpha download. Linux: CLI/runtime and MCP tested on x86_64; native desktop packaging remains pending. Windows: native EXE installer built; real Windows install/use/uninstall and native telemetry acceptance remain pending.
